HMDA Compliance Expert - Chicago

The Federal Savings Bank, a national bank and 4-time “50 Best Mortgage Companies to Work For” winner, seeks an experienced HMDA Mortgage Compliance Analyst to oversee the collection and reporting of accurate HMDA data in accordance with Home Mortgage Disclosure Act "HMDA" reporting requirements. This position is based in the Chicago, IL (Logan Square) headquarters and reports to the Quality Control Director. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze all HMDA reportable loans/applications across all business lines in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Identify systematic and/or operational issues with regard to HMDA data integrity; recommend and coordinate resolution efforts across all affected business lines.
  • Import data into reporting database
  • Perform data quality and validity checks; research and resolve any exceptions identified within established timeframes.
  • Review HMDA-LAR files prior to submission to regulators on or before the required deadlines.
  • Utilize resources to stay up-to-date with regulatory changes related to HMDA/CRA reporting.
  • Update HMDA procedures as necessary when policy, system or regulatory changes occur.
  • Assist as required with regulatory exams and internal audits.
  • Achieve expected metrics for Efficiency, Quality and Productivity

Skills/Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree preferred, commensurate mortgage experience acceptable 
  • Recent professional experience in the mortgage industry required 
  • Expert understanding of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
  • 5+ years of HMDA-LAR work experience
  • Highly proficient with Encompass loan origination software 
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with internal business partners to improve operational efficiency with regulatory reporting requirements
  • Ability to analyze policies, procedures and guidelines in a way that maximizes productivity but protects the level of risk desired.
  • Ability to make decisions in a time sensitive manner.
